Spotlight on: Pianist, Nicholas McCarthy
Nicholas McCarthy, 23, was born without his right hand, and started playing the piano at the relatively late age of 14. He is one of only a few left-handed pianists worldwide and at present, the youngest sole left-handed pianist.
At 17, Nicholas was awarded a place at the Junior Department of the Guildhall School of Music in London and two years later was awarded the Annual Piano Prize just before he left the school in 2008.
Recently Nicholas was awarded the prestigious international AMI Award for his creative excellence in music.
Here he is playing Pfeiffer's arrangement of Franz Liszt's Il Trovatore Paraphrase Op.16 live from a recital at Cheltenham Town Hall.
