"I feel more independent with my prosthesis.  Adjusting to it was like riding a bike.  Over time it became second nature and effortless for me to meet my goals.  Be patient with yourself and relax!"

Stephanie - i-limp digit partial hand prothesis after car accident

After a rollover car accident, Stephanie found herself in the hospital with rather serious injuries which resulted in the amputation of her four of her fingers and part of her pinky on her right hand.  She spent 21 days in the hospital then upon being released she underwent intensive hand therapy to prepare her for receiving a partial hand prosthesis.

In May 2013, Stephanie was fitted with an i-limb digits device.  While selecting the design she emphasized that in her profession as a nurse she would need a prosthesis that would not scare her patients.  She also wanted a device that helped show her personality so she selected the leopard print design!

Stephanie also played a very active role in receiving approval and payment for her prosthesis.  She encourages other patients considering to be fitted with a prosthesis to start early and be an advocate for yourself.
