UK Health Secretary, Jeremy Hunt backs European Limb Loss Day
DysNet recently wrote to the UK Secretary of State for Health, Jeremy Hunt, to ask for his support for European Limb Loss Day.
In response, Mr Hunt said, "As Secretary of State for Health, I am delighted to give my support to European Limb Loss Day. As always, it is an excellent opportunity to raise the profile of amputees and those with a limb deficiency.
"The fantastic example set at the Paralympics, not just by the truly inspirational performances of our Paralympians but by disabled people playing a vital role in every aspect of the Games has gone a long way towards transforming the perception of disabled people as well as demonstrating the UK's commitment to equality.
"This year's theme "Removing barriers to create an inclusive and accessible society for all" sits very well with Government Policy. I know that my officials have been working closely with colleagues in the Office for Disability Issues on the Cross Government Disability Strategy and we will continue to support this important work."
Mr Hunt is a former shadow minister for disabilities and the MP for Surrey South-West.
