May 26 2016: EDRIC (European Dysmelia Reference Information Centre), an international disability organisation that helps people affected by congenital limb difference, has announced a new management team following its Annual General Meeting last month.

The previous Chairman, Geoff Adams-Spink, has stepped down and is replaced by Michaela Moik from Austria.  Mrs Moik draws on a lifetime of living with thalidomide disabilities and a career as a social worker in Vienna.  She also runs the Austrian Thalidomide Survivors' Association (Selbsthilfegruppe der Contergan- und Thalidomidgeschädigten Österreichs).

Geoff Adams-Spink has been elected Deputy Chairman and will combine this with his work for the Thalidomide Trust and the Thalidomide Society in the UK.

The Australian Paralympian, Elizabeth Wright - previously an EDRIC patron - has been elected to the board and will leave the patrons' team.

Arrivals and Departures

Giuliana Corrado has stepped down from the board.

Charlotte Fielder - an EDRIC board member who was also an adviser on online safety - has also stepped down from the board.  She has been appointed an EDRIC patron and will continue to advise the board about online safety.

Michaela Moik said:

"We have a lot of work to do to build on the successes that we have already achieved, and I relish the challenge of leading EDRIC into its next phase."

"I have the support of a great team of people, and I am particularly grateful to Giuliana and Charlotte who have contributed so much to EDRIC.  We are very fortunate that Charlotte has agreed to join the patrons' team."

The outgoing Chairman, Geoff Adams-Spink, commented:

"So many people have contributed so much to EDRIC since its inception.  It's good to be handing on the baton to Michaela Moik who I know will beat the drum for EDRIC even more loudly than I have.  I'm also very grateful to Charlotte and Giuliana for their work on behalf of the board."

The changes to EDRIC's board and patrons' line-up took effect immediately following its Annual General Meeting on April 28, 2016.
